Atelier Morphology is a Boston-based design studio led by architect and lighting designer Maroula Zacharias. Centered on the human need to connect with nature by integrating plants into the spaces that we inhabit, Morphology creates lighting objects that support plant growth while, at the same time, being engaging and inviting for humans.

BIOPHILIA, the studio’s inaugural collection, presents a series of lighting objects that embody this dual behavior using optics, 3d printing and kinetic elements in a materially innovative yet sculptural way.

After studying architecture, Morphology’s founder Maroula Zacharias studied Computational Design at MIT, where she taught design after her graduation. She later pursued a Doctoral Degree at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, where she focused her work at the intersection of adaptive material systems and photobiology.
